Some Weakness in Birdseeds

PANAMA - Feb 27/16 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading on a weaker note.

While confection sunflower markets remain unchanged, oil type sunflower markets posted losses in sympathy with weakness in oilseeds.

In its latest market review, the International Grains Council (IGC) notes, "Losses in soybean values were particularly pronounced, as harvesting gathered pace in Brazil, and with recent beneficial weather bolstering expectations for huge crops across South America. . .

"World soybean markets softened over the past month, the IGC GOI sub-Index dropping by 5%, as the harvesting of expected bumper outturns in South America weighed on sentiment. However, US market losses were capped by renewed old crop demand and currency movements, while loading delays provided some support to fob values in Brazil."
