Gains in Canaryseed Output
PANAMA - Dec 6/15 - SNS -- Statistics Canada reports canaryseed production advanced from last year's revised 125,900 metric ton (MT) to 152,600 MT this year.
Production is now only reported for Saskatchewan. Unofficial data from Statistics Canada reveals production of hairless canaryseed totalled 51,000 MT; while output of regular and unspecified canaryseed reached 97,600 MT.
Unofficial production estimates for Manitoba suggest the province grew 4,000 MT of canaryseed.
Residual supplies of canaryseed from the 2013-14 marketing year totalled 22,000 MT, giving Canada an available supply of 174,600 MT for 2015-16, down almost 22,000 MT from the 196,900 MT on hand at last season.
