Steady Bulk Pea Movement in April

VANCOUVER - May 29/15 - SNS -- Canadian bulk field pea exports slipped in April, with unofficial data from the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) showing port clearances were down 8% from the previous month but more than double the same month last year.

Unofficial data shows that 128,200 metric tons (MT) of peas were loaded to bulk conventional vessels from licensed terminals and directly primary elevators in April, compared to 53,800 MT the same month last year and 139,300 the previous month.

Bulk conventional port clearances have trended lower since peaking at 559,400 MT in September. However, only twice did they drop to around 110,000 MT or less -- December and February.
