Tightening Stocks Boost Pea Values

PANAMA - Apr 26/24 - SNS -- Tightening stocks in net exporting countries helped boost nominal export asking prices for field peas during the past week.

The depth of India's demand was underscored by the country's latest import data, which showed a dramatic increase in pulse imports in February on account of a massive increase in pea purchases.

Imports of all pulses was just under 593,400 metric tons (MT) in February, lifting imports during the first two months of the current calendar year to 1.01 million MT, almost double the 547,821 MT imported in the same two month period last year.
