Mixed Week in Lentils

VANCOUVER - Mar 21/15 - SNS -- International lentil markets closed out the week with prices mixed in relatively light current crop trade, but with steady new crop trading interest.

Interestingly, while values are at the high end of their trading ranges since 1988, they are at the middle of their trading ranges since 2007. Despite record demand so far this marketing year, markets are being influenced by this year's acreage prospects.

Widening discounts for new crop trading positions is encouraging buyers who can wait to defer purchases. But that is essential given ending stock forecasts for the current marketing year.
