Birdseeds Unchanged to Firmer
VANCOUVER - Mar 21/14 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredients markets finished the week's trading unchanged to firmer as offers from growers and processors remained well aligned with the short term needs of packagers.
White proso millet markets in the United States remain somewhat volatile, regaining the 50 cents per 100 pounds (cwt) lost in both grower and inter-dealer markets within the past month.
Production contracts with Act of God clauses are still be offered to oil type sunflower seed growers in the United States. Growers also receive a 2% price premium for each 1% of oil content that is over 40%. The U.S. based National Sunflower Association stresses that "At current new crop prices that can add significantly to the final price when delivered."
