Canada's Pea Exports Trend Lower in February

VANCOUVER - Mar 21/14 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 77,000 metric tons (MT) field pea were exported through licensed terminal facilities which are required to report to it all grain movement in February.

The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals.

The CGC reports exports are down from the 120,200 MT shipped the same month last year and down from the 102,000 MT shipped the previous month. This continues a downward trend in export volume consistent with the overall movement.

Exports of all bulk grains, pulses and oilseeds reported by the CGC peaked in October at 4.35 million MT. But monthly shipments fell an average of 15% per month in November, December, January and February. Pea movement managed a somewhat better performance, peaking in October and again in December at 197,300 and 187,100 MT respectively.
