Chickpeas Strengthen

VANCOUVER - Apr 6/12 - SNS -- Chickpea markets finished the week's trading on a strong note, helped by ongoing demand from China and Turkey and a defensive sales posture among Mexico's exporters.

Markets are also supported by the lack of short-term alternative suppliers. Inventories in Canada and the United States will be tight until this year's harvest activity gets underway.

Acreage in both countries will be up over last year, but there is a growing sense that supplies available to the world will not improve until after December or January.
