Chickpea Post Strong Finish

VANCOUVER - Mar 31/12 - SNS -- International chickpea markets finished the week's trading on a strong note against worries about available supplies in 2012-13.

While production in Mexico will be up significantly from last year and farmers in Canada and the United States intend to increase area, markets do not believe India had a good kabuli chickpea crop.

Some traders in India speculate farmers are holding product because of unhappiness with bids; but others doubt farmers will continue to store product now that daytime temperatures are rising the monsoon season is approaching.
