Chinks in Chickpea Armor

VANCOUVER - Nov 19/11 - SNS -- International chickpea markets continue to show more signs of weakness, with exporters in India and Argentina becoming more aggressive in their search for customers.

Argentina has started to harvest this year's crop, with processors expressing disappointment over quality from some regions. Cooler and dryer than normal weather in some producing areas resulted in lower yields and smaller sized chickpeas than last year.

This is contributing to over asking prices for smaller caliber kabuli type chickpeas than for 9mm product.
