Chickpea Market Tensions Rise

VANCOUVER - Oct 7/11 - SNS -- Chickpea markets finished the week's trading with rising tension between buyers, shorts and growers.

This has seen clear groups emerge in markets, with some traders keen to push prices lower, while others are keen to sell as much product as they can before new crop supplies become available from southern hemisphere suppliers and India.

One outcome is grower bids in Canada for some categories of kabuli type chickpeas are higher than bids from some end users.
