Bigger Mustard Crop Mooted

PANAMA - Aug 20/16 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets were not entirely surprised by yield estimates by Saskatchewan Agriculture released during the past week.

The numbers are not based on grower surveys, but they provide a good indication of the status of crops in the province. The first official production estimate will be released Tuesday by Statistics Canada.

Saskatchewan Agriculture is looking for above average yields on account of a wet growing season. On the other hand, there is an underlying concern about quality. This year's harvest is underway, but there are no preliminary reports about quality.
