Firm Tone in Chickpeas

PANAMA - May 14/16 - SNS -- International chickpea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, with importers continuing to look for additional product.

Interest spans all qualities and sizes, with some buyers hoping to find cheaper alternatives to desi chickpeas in small caliber, farmer's dressed kabuli chickpeas.

In other news, the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 100 MT of bulk chickpeas were exported through reporting terminals and primary elevators between May 2 to 8. Season to date exports total 4,300 MT, compared to 4,500 MT during the previous marketing year.
