Smaller 2015 Mustard Crop Forecast

VANCOUVER - Feb 20/15 - SNS -- In its latest monthly review of Canadian mustard seed Agriculture Canada's market analysis branch in Winnipeg issued its first supply and demand forecasts for 2015. It is important to note that its projections are neither official nor based on a survey of farmers.

It predicts mustard seed production this year will reach 170,000 MT from 432,000 acres, compared to 198,000 MT from 465,000 acres in 2014.

Agriculture Canada expects exports to reach 135,000 MT in 2015-16, compared to 135,000 MT in 2014-15, compared to 138,000 MT last season. Domestic use is forecast at 45,000 MT next season, compared to 43,000 MT this season and 45,000 last season.

Season ending stocks are forecast to finish the 2015-16 marketing year at 30,000 MT, versus 10,000 this season and 36,000 MT the previous season.

Agriculture Canada predicts grower bids for all classes of mustard will range between $645 and $675 MT this season and between $665 and $695 MT in 2015-16.
