Rapid Pea Disappearance in Canada

VANCOUVER - Oct 18/14 - SNS -- Improved availability of new crop product and reduced pressure on exporters to meet vessel commitments contributed to a modest easing in field pea values during the past week.

Export movement has been good despite the late harvest and continued complaints about railcar availability. Export clearances as of October 12 are up 40% over the same period last year at 943,300 metric tons (MT).

Grower deliveries are also sharply higher, with 1.2 million MT or almost a third of the projected available supply of peas already delivered to primary and process elevators in western Canada.
