Bulk Pea Exports Regaining Momentum

VANCOUVER - Jun 9/14 - SNS -- The pace of field pea exports from Canada managed a significant improvement in May, soaring above the quantity moved in April, but dropping 8% below the average monthly pace set between August and April.

Unofficial data suggests 130,500 metric tons (MT) of peas could have been loaded to bulk conventional vessels from licensed terminals and directly primary elevators in May, compared to around 34,840 MT in April and 266,400 MT the same month last year.

Movement is expected to continue to improve in June and July now that railways are having an easier time moving grain and meeting the car allocation needs of an expanding group of primary shippers.
