Birdseeds Nominally Firmer
VANCOUVER - May 16/14 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets were nominally firmer in the past week, ignoring general weakness in oilseed and grain markets.
Sunflower seed markets are becoming more optimistic seeded area will be higher than farmers intended. The late start to seeding in North Dakota and other states where sunflower are grown could see more land go into the crop because it can be sown later.
Canaryseed and white proso millet markets were unchanged to firmer as offers from growers remain closely balanced with the short term needs of the market.
