Birdseed Shippers Grumpy
VANCOUVER - May 10/14 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets registered a mixed performance during the past week, with U.S. markets unchanged to easier and Canadian firmer.
The pace of rail movement of field crops from western Canada to port locations has improved. But, some canaryseed shippers complain they are being ignored as the railways focus on shipping points and destinations with faster turnaround times.
Markets were unaffected by a bullish Canadian stocks in all positions report. Statistics Canada's production and stocks estimates are not considered accurate, a feeling that is bolstered by ongoing increases to previous numbers. Stocks are believed to be higher, with the result markets are fearful about moving higher.
