Few Changes in Birdseeds
VANCOUVER - Sep 21/13 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets were mostly unchanged in light trade as ongoing harvest activity helps keep offers from growers in line with the short term needs of processors and exporters.
Oil-type sunflower seed markets finished the week on an easier note in sympathy with weaker soybean and canola markets.
Confection sunflower seed prices were mostly unchanged. Though production is expected to be up over the previous two years, the harvest is still expected to be below the recent 337,700 metric ton (MT) average, with the result markets may need to ration demand as the marketing year progresses.
