Weakness in Birdseeds

VANCOUVER - Jul 27/13 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week’s trading with a weaker undertone as markets in the United States lost value in anticipation of an imporved new crop supply situation.

White proso millet continued its recent correction, losing another 10 cents per pound to finish the week at U.S. $27 per 100 pounds (cwt) for bulk product loaded into railcars in the U.S. midwest.

Millet had peaked at $53 during the first half of June, only starting to lose value once seeding was underway and markets were confident exhausted supplies would be restored.
