Birdseed Packers Re-Enter Markets
VANCOUVER - May 10/13 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, helped by strength in sunflower seed markets.
Oil-type sunflower seed was firmer on the week, while confectionary sunflower seed bids were nominally unchanged. Prices in Kansas have not moved for several weeks, while bids in Montana finished the week at 49 cents per pound.
That reflects a general improvement in demand for birdseed quality sunflower seed, which is supportive of both confectionary and oil-type markets.
