Stocks Report Supports Canaryseed
VANCOUVER - May 3/13 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading on a generally firm note.
Canadian markets were helped by Statistics Canada's stocks in all positions report, which found canaryseed inventories had fallen to their lowest level since at least the year 2000.
The implication is that ending stocks stand a good chance of coming in at 13,000 metric tons (MT) for a 10.1% stock to use ratio. Combined with the risk seeded area could be down this spring, the supply outlook for the crop looks very tight.
