VANCOUVER - Feb 7/13 - SNS -- The pace of field pea export movement from France improved in December, rising above both month and year earlier levels, according to data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).

Export shipments in December totalled 19,195 metric tons (MT), up 36.9% from the 14,025 shipped in November, and well above the 12,085 MT shipped the same month last year. Europe destinations remained the most important during the month, accounting for 99.3% of total field pea exports.

So far this season, shipments to the Indian subcontinent and other non-European Union customers account for just 3.6% of total pea movement, compared to 53.7% at this time last season.
