India Pressures Chickpeas

VANCOUVER - Feb 1/13 - SNS -- Harvest selling pressure is rising in India, resulting in a steady decline in grower bids and export asking prices for kabuli chickpeas.

Markets were initially influenced by efforts by growers and other market participants to clear out 2012 crop inventory before this year's rabi season harvest got underway.

The harvest is now well engaged and deliveries by growers into regional markets are remaining relatively strong.
