Supply Uncertainty in Chickpeas
VANCOUVER - Jan 18/13 - SNS -- International chickpea pea markets finished the week with rising uncertainty about prospective supplies for the coming year.
Production in India will be up because of a steep rise in kabuli and desi chickpea plantings. Area in desi chickpeas is up 3.4% from this time last year at 9.19 million hectares.
The percentage increase in kabuli seedings could be greater in response to strong internal markets during the past year.
