Softer Undertone in Lentils

VANCOUVER - Oct 5/12 - SNS -- International lentil markets finished the week's trading with a softer undertone, with Canadian exporters becoming more aggressive on markets.

The latest crop production estimates from Statistics Canada underscored the need to move product, with the harvest pegged at 1.38 million metric tons (MT), down slightly from last year's 1.53 million MT result.

However, the available of supply of lentils is not down as much because of the record 788,000 MT carry-over from the previous marketing year.
