Millet Makes New Record Highs

VANCOUVER - Sep 22/12 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets finished the week’s trading on a generally firm note as offers from growers remained behind the near term needs of the market.

U.S. white proso millet markets set new record highs during the week, with grower bids soaring to U.S. $30 per 100 pounds (cwt) for farmers dressed product delivered processing plants and/or elevators in the U.S. midwest.

That market has doubled in value since June amid fears the drought in the U.S. midwest has savaged the crop.
