Mixed Week For Birdseeds

VANCOUVER - Aug 24/12 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading on a mixed note, with Canadian canaryseed easing while asking prices for U.S. origin product increased.

Drought remains a factor in the United States, leaving markets nervous about supply prospects for seeds such as millet and milo. This is reflecting in continued increases in grower bid levels.

There are no supply concerns for sunflower seed, but that market is being pulled upward because of competitive pressure from canola and soybean.
