Few Changes in Birdseeds

VANCOUVER - Aug 11/12 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredients were little changed in light trade during the past week, with markets continuing to be influenced by events affecting grains and oilseeds.

Commenting on the general situation, the U.S. based National Sunflower Association said, "Another week and the same old story, the drought is winning. Trade on the CBOT remains volatile as some market analysts estimate that moisture is needed in the next 10 days in the worst hit areas of the Midwest or the soybean crop will continue to lose yield.

"The weather outlook does not look good for any significant moisture during this period. . . . . Demand destruction is still on the minds of oilseed industry members. The price surge in beans and meal is expected to price these products out of the market."
