Birdseed Market Calmer

VANCOUVER - Jul 20/12 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets were calmer during the past week, with markets less willing to follow grains and oilseeds higher.

With the exception of millet, a large part of the sunflower and virtually all the canaryseed grown in North America is outside the drought zone.

Millet is mainly grown in Colorado, Nebraska and South Dakota. Large parts of those states are suffering from the expanding drought, which had been reflected in steep price gains earlier in the month.
