Peas Transitioning Into New Crop

VANCOUVER - Jul 14/12 - SNS -- North American field pea markets have started the transition into new crop pricing as processors and exporters become more confident about developing crops.

Saskatchewan Agriculture reports that 83% of pea fields in that province are in good to excellent condition. Processors say that after having received good amounts of rainfall, crops in many areas benefited from several days of high temperatures.

The North American pea harvest got underway during the past week, with Montana reporting 3% of its pea crop was in the bin as the week got underway; while 8% of North Dakota's pea crop was rated mature.
