Outside Markets Keep Birdseeds on Toes

VANCOUVER - Nov 5/11 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading mostly unchanged to firmer as some products respond to price movements in grains and oilseeds.

There has been some harvest selling pressure, but farmers are not cash hungry, making it easier for them to resist current bids.

Discussing the situation, the U.S. based National Sunflower Association said, "Harvest pressure resulted in nearby sunflower prices falling from earlier higher levels. However as harvest has progressed farmers have been reserved sellers so far this market year thus putting a floor underneath nearby prices."
