Strong Exports Support Lentils

VANCOUVER - Oct 14/11 - SNS -- Canadian lentil markets finished the week's trading on a positive note, with sentiment helped by the realization exports started the marketing year at an unusually strong pace.

Single month records for lentil exports were set in both July and August, with almost 200,000 metric tons (MT) of lentils moving out of Canada during that two-month period. The previous high was just under 172,000 MT, set in July and August of 2007.

Bulging demand from nations which observe Ramadan seems to be behind the increase in movement.
