Miniature Canaryseed Crop
VANCOUVER - Aug 26/11 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets ended the week on a firm note against confirmation that canaryseed production in Canada has collapsed.
Problems seeding crops and fear that near zero tolerances for certain weed seeds in exports to Mexico will affect their returns, caused growers to not try harder to seed this year's crops.
Land in the crop collapsed from an intended 275,000 acres to just 190,000 - the smallest area since 1985.
