Chickpea Remain Firm

VANCOUVER- Jun 17/11 - SNS -- International chickpea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week against ongoing shortages of large caliber kabuli chickpeas from all origins.

End users have found it difficult to secure product, forcing them to buy from less experienced suppliers. This resulted in some quality surprises, even before markets lifted past the original contract value.

Hopes of seeing a last minute expansion in area in North America have not materialized because it has been too cool and damp to encourage extra seeding in areas with chickpea growing experience.
