Seeding Delays May Boost Sunseed Area

VANCOUVER May 13/11 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets were little changed in seasonally light trade during the past week.

Markets in the United States were supported by seeding delays in key sunflower producing states. In the Northern Plains, planting continues at a slow pace due to excessively wet soil conditions, explained the U.S.-based National Sunflower Association (NSA).

"Some field work was completed in the last two weeks but planting progress for cereal grains and corn is significantly behind the five year average. Warmer temps and drier conditions are forecast for the week ahead.
