Birdseeds Manage Firmer Finish
VANCOUVER - May 7/11 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets finished the week on a firmer note against smaller than expected canaryseed stocks estimates for Canada and worries about seeded area for millet and sunflower in the United States.
Statistics Canada reported that sunflower seed stocks in Canada are lower from last year, with March 31 inventories dropping from 72,000 to 58,000 MT, in line with the decline in season opening stocks.
Statistics Canada reported there were only 47,000 metric tons (MT) of canaryseed in all positions on March 31, down sharply from the 128,000 MT on hand last year.
