Chickpea Markets Keep Burning

VANCOUVER - Feb 18/11 - SNS -- International chickpea markets maintained their bullish tone through the past week against worries about the size of Mexico's harvest and delays with the Indian harvest.

India's kabuli chickpea crop is expected to be up over last year as part of a general increase in chickpea plantings during the current rabi or winter cropping season.

However, poor weather conditions at the start of the season caused some damage to early seeded crops, pushing back the main part of the harvest.
