30% Jump in Proso Millet Output
WASHINGTON - Jan 12/11 - SNS -- Production of proso millet in 2010 totaled 11.5 million bushels, up 30% from 2009, according to the USDA's final crop production estimates for the 2010 crop.
Planted area, at 390,000 acres, is up 11%, while harvested area, at 363,000 acres, is up 37% from last year. The average yield for 2010 is estimated at 31.8 bushels per acre, down 1.7 bushels from last year.
