Steep Drop in Sunflower Crop
WASHINGTON - Jan 12/11 - SNS -- Production of all types of sunflower ended up at 2.74 billion pounds in the United States last year, down 10% from 2009, according to the USDA's final crop production estimates for the 2010 crop.
The United States average yield per acre decreased 94 pounds from last year's record high to 1,460 pounds. Planted area, at 1.95 million acres, is 4% below last year. Area harvested decreased 4% from last year to 1.87 million acres.
