Harvest Struggles Under Wet Skies

VANCOUVER - Sep 9/10 - SNS -- The Canadian harvest inched forward during the past week, but has ground to a halt across Saskatchewan in the face of a general rainfall.

In its latest weekly crop report, Saskatchewan Agriculture said 13% of all crops were harvest at the start of the week and another 31% was swathed or ready to combine. Normally, 35% of the crop is in the bin by now, with another 29% swathed or ready to straight-combine.

Regionally, the southwest has 22% of the crop combined, the southeast 19%, and the northeast and westcentral regions have 7% combined. In east-central Saskatchewan, 8% of the crop has been combined and in northwest Saskatchewan, 6% has been combined.
