Uncertainty Clouds Birdseeds

VANCOUVER - Aug 28/10 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week on an uncertain note because of concerns over the status of Canadian crops and the trade dispute with Mexico.

This is not the first time that specialty crop exporters have been blind-sided by the sudden enforcement of old rules. But, in this case, it is worth noting that the number of disputes involving agricultural trade with Mexico seem to be rising as farmers in that country express rising anger over the perceived effect of the North American Free Trade Agreement on local prices.

Tensions among the NAFTA partners also seem to be rising as "fear mongering" by politicians leads to increasingly restrictive immigration, tourist, and national security policies.
