Newfield Seeds License Expires

WINNIPEG - May 7/02 - SNS -- Newfield Seeds Company Ltd. of Nipawin, Saskatchewan allowed its grain dealers license to expire on April 30, according to an official notice from the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC).

In a routine announcement, the CGC reminded growers who may have sold the company merchandise that it was holding security tendered by Newfield Seeds, "in accordance with Section 45 of the Canada Grain Act to cover obligations to holders of authorized or prescribed documents."

The company has become less active in western Canadian specialty crop and grain markets as it became more focussed on pedigree seed production and sales. Major products handled by the company include alfalfa, red clover, alsike clover, sweet clover, and timothy.
