WASHINGTON - Jan 12/23 - SNS -- Last year's lentil harvest in the United States ended up at 5.74 million cwt (100 pound units) or 260,000 metric tons (MT), up 2% from the previous season, according to the USDA's final production estimate for 2023.
Planted area, at 546,000 acres, was down 20% from the previous season. Harvested area, at 523,000 acres, was down 16% from the previous season. The average yield was 1,098 pounds per acre, up 185 pounds from the previous season.
