Mustard Little Influenced By Data

PANAMA - Sep 15/23 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets finished the week on a somewhat easier note, suggesting processors and exporters are well covered for their immediate needs.

Markets were not immediately influenced by the lastest Statistcs Canada production estimates. Yields were not based on a direct survey of farmers, but came in relatively close to those from provincial agriculture departments.

The current official yield estimate is 580 pounds per seeded acre, down from 622 last year, but above recent provincial forecasts of 568 pounds. Output is now forecast at 167,800 metric tons (MT), up from 161,800 last year and the recent five year average of 136,300 MT.
