Mustard Eases As Harvest Begins

PANAMA - Aug 19/22 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets continued to ease during the past week as the North American harvest begins to make headway.

Brown and oriental mustard seed were unchanged on the week, but prices offered growers for yellow mustard sank 21%, with the upper end of the current bid range falling under CDN $1 per pound for farmers dressed product delivered processing plants for the first time since October.

Initial yield reports from growers in Saskatchewan are have been disappointing, t=with m=processors and exporters hoping later harvested fields will bring the national yield closer to its recent five year average of 747 pounds per acre, compared to just 452 last year.
