Lentils Maintain Firm Tone

PANAMA - Aug 21/20 - SNS -- International lentil markets remained relatively quiet during the past week as exporters and processors work to accumulate new crop stocks from farmers.

Canada's harvest started the week with 19% of the crop in the bin, while 19% was ready to straight combine and 2% was in swath. This suggests close to 500,000 metric tons (MT) of new crop is now available to markets.

Initial yield reports have been good, but markets remain concerned about the impact high temperatures had on flowering and/or pod fill in later seeded fields.
