Modest Decline in Mustard Exports
PANAMA - Jan 5/18 - SNS -- Canadian mustard seed exports during the first third of the 2017-18 marketing year are down from both last season and the previous five year average.
Official data from Statistics Canada reveals 38,123 metric tons (MT) were exported between August and November, down 7% from the same period last year and 9% below the recent average of 41,716 MT.
Shipments to the United States are down roughly 800 MT and movement to Belgium down around 3,400 MT at 20,548 and 4,809 MT respectively. These losses were partly offset by increased movement to other European Union destinations.
