Tight Stocks Limit Mustard Exports

PANAMA - Jun 4/16 - SNS -- Mustard seed exports maintained their slow pace through the end of April, reflecting a fundamental shortage of product because of last year's steep reduction in seeded area and production.

Official exports for April totalled 9,554 metric tons (MT), down 20% from the 11,920 MT shipped during the same month last year. Marketing year to date exports now total 88,307 MT, down 6% from the 94,194 MT shipped during the same nine-month period last season.

Export clearances in May will not get much help from bulk shippers. Port clearance data from the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reveals bulk loadings dropped from 4,900 MT in April to 2,700 MT in May.
