Modest Bulk Mustard Shipment Pace

PANAMA - Feb 27/16 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 1,900 metric tons (MT) mustard seed was loaded for export through licensed facilities which are required to report to it all grain movement in January.

The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals. So far this season, bulk exports reported by the CGC have accounted for 16% of all export clearances, compared to 13% last season.

The CGC reports 1,200 MT were shipped the same month last year, while movement is down from the 3,300 MT shipped the previous month.

This lifted bulk loadings for the marketing year to 9,600 MT, compared to 10,000 MT during the same period last season.

Season to date clearances for Thunder Bay sit at 2,300 MT; compared to 7,400 MT direct from western Canadian elevators. The CGC says the shipment from Thunder Bay was for Belgium, while shipments direct from Prairie elevators were for the United States.
